These are different times here in Philadelphia if you're looking for a automotive locksmith. If you're in a rush & looking for a emergency service locksmith, the chances of you getting ripped of or scammed is "HIGHLY" likely. No matter if you're in west Philadelphia looking to get your car keys replaced or in northeast Philadelphia looking to get a spare key fob or remote. There are many companies in this area looking to take advantage of consumers in desperate need & not knowing what to do.
One of the first things that you need to know & do immediately so you don't become a victim of these scammers is to not be in this situation to begin with. Get a spare key or remote for your car today! Stop putting it off. It's like having insurance. You never know when you're going to need it. If you're ever in need of a locksmith service, "NEVER" "EVER" choose one that advertise $15 service call, 15 min ETA, $19 Locksmith, $19 service call, $25 locksmith,or $39 locksmith, 15 minute response time, 20 minute response time, etc. You "WILL" get ripped off!!!. Pass the word around!!It's a classic bate & switch. On site, the scammer demands 5-10 times that sum, often claiming that the work was more complicated than expected. Most consumers simply pay up, in part because they are in a rush to get into their homes or cars. It's all set up to deceive the consumer. This is the best tactic that these scammers use because they understand that people are very cheap & very impatient. So, they use that to their advantage.Be smart! It's never this price & never that fast.By paying these scammers, you're keeping them in business to rip off even more customers.Get the full price for the entire service, PERIOD!! If you ever hear," the price starts at........". just hang up the phone. If you ever lost your car keys and don't have a spare, by giving the year & model of the car and if 1 key worked all of the locks on the car, you should be able to get a full price for having the car keys replaced by a reputable car key locksmith service. (the location / area of your car may also matter). Car key replacement cost may vary. Some car keys have chips in them. Some don't. Don't assume. Some of these scammers will tell you there's a chip in your key or something special about it to jack up the price even more when they arrive.Never give the address where your car is until you get a full price for the complete service!!! Why? Because they will still show up even if you tell them "NO".
One of the best things you can do if you're ever in the need of a car key replacement service or need to get a remote programmed for your car is to get a referral from a repair shop, friend, neighbor, etc. Don't be fooled by reviews also. Many of the reviews online are paid reviews! That's right. People get paid to leave "Fake" reviews.
What we have been told when this scam started is that the very large majority of the scammers are foreigners. We've been told that they're are advertisements in other countries to come to America to make a lot of money. You can see how now!!! Scamming Americans.
Don't be fooled by the names of these companies also. Think about it...... Be smart.
There are some cheap car key replacement services, but very few. Be informed.
